2016 Fiji Sports Awards nominees were recognised by sponsors of the annual event at a cocktail organised by the Sports Awards Committee.
The event which took place at the ANZ Corporate Booth last Friday saw sponsors of the 11 categories award all nominees with plaques.
Sports Awards Committee Chairperson Litiana Loabuka said the evening was a first of its kind and a special one for all those involved.
"This evening is especially for all the nominees as they are being recognised for their contribution to sports in the 2016," she said.
Mrs Loabuka said the Nominees Cocktail night would ensure that on the actual Awards night only winners of each category would be announced which would make the formalities shorter.
"And everyone could enjoy the night with some good food and music," she said.
The 2016 Sports Awards Night will be held this Friday at the Vodafone Arena.
Tickets are available at $60 from the Fiji Sports Council office at the FMF Gymnasium or at the Olympic House along Bau Street, Suva.
The event will take place on the 17th of February, 2017 and will honour the achievements of those athletes, administrators and volunteers to the development of Sports in the country.
