Team Fiji Chef de Mission Wayne O'Connor is optimistic that Team Fiji will be ready come the 2017 Vanuatu Mini Games in December this year.
Earlier this week, Mr O'Connor introduced his team that will assist him during the games which include deputy Chef de Mission Pauline Morris, General Managers Joseph Rodan and Chris Yee along with Medical Commission's Sharlene Nand and team doctor Jone Nasome.
Team Fiji will take part in 13 sports and 215 athletes and officials are expected to represent the country in the 2016 Pacific Mini Games in Vanuatu.
The Pacific Mini Games will be held in Vanuatu from the 4th to the 15th of December.
Mr O'Connor has stated that an estimated a budget of around $4500 per athlete would be needed and that they would meet with the various sporting federations and discuss about the funding.
“There is a participation amount levied on each sports and its fifteen hundreds. That money will trickle in overtime as mentioned in the forms of levies each quarter. All levies should be collected from participating federation before their departure."
Each participating federation will give one third of the total amount and two thirds will be provided by FASANOC and the government in order to cater for all their expenses in Vanuatu.
