Tahiti and Fiji Men join their Women team in final
Tahiti beats Tonga 21-18 21-17. Tahiti and Tonga both played a standout match. Tonga's Tio Fonohema played his usual style of great blocking and accurate line shots, but he was eclipsed by Tahiti's Maheanuu Hapiatahaa who won the match single handedly with his powerful and accurate spikes, which Tonga had no response to.
Fiji has beaten New Caledonia in a long and hard match. New Caledonia opened the game on the front foot taking the points advantage over Fiji, Fiji looked shaken with New Caledonia up 15-11, they were able to claw their way back but could not overcome the deficit, New Caledonia taking the first set 21-17. Fiji were able to rally in the second set with Eroni Suasua piling on the points with a quick flurry of spikes, line shots and deep shots to behind New Caledonia, Anselme Wea made 3 shots that hit the net in quick succession giving Fiji the advantage and also the second set 21- 12. Eroni Nainami was outstanding again in the final set directing his spikes with lethal efficiency to finally overcome New Caledonia 15-10.
Tahiti will play Fiji in th gold medal match on Saturday 1st September 2007 at 4.45pm
Tonga will play New Caledonia on Saturday 1st September 2007 at 3.30pm
