Fiji men kill Guam for the Gold

Fiji foul shot

Guam and Fiji were medal contenders form the beginning.  Both teams have been victorious in most of their games with Guam having the only loss between them, that being their game with Fiji.  The first quarter of the game was very close, the scores remaining in the single figures for over half of the first quarter.  The end of the first quarter score was Fiji 19 and Guam 14.

Almost half way into the second quarter and Guam has only scored three points.  At this time Fiji has almost doubled Guam's score 30-17.  Fiji's defence is showing to be too much for Guam as their score continues to increase while Guam has come to a stand still.  Guam did not let their score stay stagnant; they continued their offensive attack and brought the half time score to Fiji 38 and Guam 22.
This quarter began with Jine Ho Han increasing the Guam score with a beautiful three pointer.  Both teams are tightening their defence as Fiji makes the first foul for this quarter.  The foul shots were taken by Seve Susuico who missed them both.    Fiji's Laisiasa Puamau scores a three pointer as both teams are trying so hard to get this gold.  With six and a half minutes remaining in the third quarter Fiji takes a time out.  As the players walk off the court there is a clear height difference between the two teams which has shown to be an advantage for Fiji thus far in the game.

Half way through the third quarter and Fiji continue to increase their score.  Guam is not going down without a battle they continue to score and tightening their defence, but continue to make fouls giving Fiji easy shots at the free throw line.

With the hosting team not participating in the finals there are not as many spectators in the stands.  The Fijian supporters are obvious with their Fijian flags and Songs of support.  It is a great thing to see; yet as the Fijian supporters get louder, so to do the Guam supporters.  This didn't help the Guam team as the end of the third quarter score sees Fiji still out in front; Fiji 64 Guam 32.
Fiji hype themselves up with a team cheer, the Fijian supporters are dancing and singing in the stands, will this game bring another Gold to Team Fiji in basketball?  The score thus far suggests so and the continuation of the steals and shots also point to this becoming fact.

Guam are fighting hard but continue to foul, with seven and a half minutes left in the game their team already have three fouls against them.  Half way through the fourth quarter and the obvious winner of the game is Fiji who has almost doubled Guam's 41 points.  The question from this time on is how much will Fiji win by?
With a minute left in the game Fiji ate on fire as we see number 14 dunk the ball.  With a clear lead the crowd are still cheering and excited with the game.  The final score of the match Fiji 95- Guam 58.
