Invitation was send out to all Chef De Missions to invite a male and female athlete to have a meeting breakfast with ONOC Athletes Commission at Princess Hall on 28th September 2009. It was great opportunity for elite athletes of respective nations to come to the meeting where Chair Lady Mrs Barbara Kendal went through briefly about the structure of IOC and Athlete Commission and the Obectives. She briefly explain steps to follow;

1. Identify 5 athletes from different sporting codes

2. Find a person in the NOC board who can assist you and you keep taping to him/her for information

2. Have a meeting and elect their Chair

3. Ask to have a meeting with their respective NOC to inform the board that they have formed an Athlete Commission and introduce their executives.

She also explained the opportunities of having an athlete commission for their voices to be heard example being in the board of Justification Committee, Uniform Committee have place available for other athletes who have problems to come air their views to be taken on board in the NOC executives. It is in the IOC Charter and OAC is here for them to provide assistance if they have capable athletes who are enthustiatic to starat up their  Athlete Commission. She also explained about "Carrier After Sport" that they won't be Athletes forever and IOC is providing education packages on line and her as one educator in this field. To assist athlete a carrier pathway after their sports. They only access to this if they have an Athletes Commission. It was a fruitful meeting and surely after this meeting we will see more athlete commissions set up.

Opportunity was also given to Role Model Athlete Commission of Papua New Guinea and Fiji to give brief overview of how their commission is run and what they do to encourage and assist the other nations to set up their Athlete Commissions.

Thank you to ONOC for making this available so that we can come to share and educate the athletes and officials to BE A LEADER SO VOICES CAN BE HEARD, PLAY TRUE AND PLAY SAFE.
