Pacific Netball Series Team Named

Netball Cook Islands today announced the 12 girls selected to represent the Cook Islands at the Pacific Netball Series Tournament. This year the annual Series between the four top Pacific Island Oceania teams will be held in Fiji from June 27-29.

NCI Head Coach Margaret Foster is very excited about the mixed talent of experience players and development U21 players in the side as well as an even number of locally based players and New Zealand based players in the team.

"With the mixture of talent and flair, and a chance for our talented young ones to draw on the experience of our older players in strong competitive games, we are building our representative player base for the future.”

"The girls have shown they are determined and hard working, I believe they will represent their country with pride."

Trials were held last week in Auckland and on Rarotonga with a good turn out pool of 20-22 players.

Of interest are a mother and daughter selection of Angela & Eteta Tangimetua who both showed impressive mobility within the circle

Also announced is the ID Under 21Talent Pool who will train with the National squad on return from Fiji as they continue to prepare for the Scotland and Wales Test Series in October. The World Youth Netball Competition will be held in 2013.
