NZ coach says competition still open

NEW Zealand men's netball coach David Pala'amo says leading teams should not rest on their past wins but try to maintain their intensity throughout until the final rounds tomorrow.

I would like to think that anything can happen in weeklong tournaments,'' said the coach/player.

Though we have Australia and New Zealand dominating, I don't see any reasons why maybe Fiji or the Cooks can't cause upsets.

"Well maybe for Fiji who seem to be improving and at times have made Australia and New Zealand work for their wins.

Pala'amo adds that though in some categories either New Zealand or Australia have beaten each other twice - the team that is mentally prepared will win.

"It's not easy to remain focused for the full 15 minutes in every quarter and again we're playing two games a day.

"It will boil down to who is the best mentally, because there will be some very exhausted players out there towards the final rounds.

New Zealand Open Men have defeated Australia twice in minor rounds, and Pala'amo says that is not something they will be banking too much on if they face-off in the finals.
