Tieri broke the National 15-16 Yr Girls 200m Butterfly record and the 15-16 yr Girls 800m Freestyle record at the 2010 Oceania Championships held in Samoa. She represented Fiji in Swimming at the Inaugural Youth Olympic Games in Singapore where she set a new Fiji record in the 15-16 Yr Girls 200m Butterfly.  She also represented Fiji in 2010 at the World Short Course Swimming Championships in Dubai setting a new record in the 200m Butterfly in both the 15-16 Yr Girls and the Open women’s categories.

FASANOC extends timeframe for nominations

The Fiji Association of Sports & National Olympic Committee (FASANOC) has now extended the sports nominations entry closing date to 4th February.

FASANOC administration officer Nilesh Wati says organisers made this decision to ensure that all sporting federations’ nominations will be considered.

FASANOC and the Fiji Sports Council shook hands today agreeing to hold a joint annual Fiji Sports Awards and this now signifies that their wont be any separate awards organised by the two bodies.


Stallions start work for 2011

NADROGA has selected a strong 62-member training squad into its Digicel Cup campaign after their trial on Saturday.Nadroga manager Paula Biu said they were happy with the standard shown by the more than 160 players who turned up to the trials at Lawaqa Park.

Sailosi Naiteqe (Senior) will be the new coach for Samurai rugby sevens team for the Uprising 7s tournament on January 21-22 at the TFL National Stadium.Naiteqe received the invitation three weeks ago from Terry Sands who is the founder for Samurai Rugby Sevens club.


Swimmers in Dubai

The Fiji Swimming team has arrived in Dubai for the 10th FINA World Swimming Championships that will take place on December 15-19.

The short course swimming championship have been held every two years since the inaugural championship began in Palma de Mallorca, Spain in 1993.
