New Caledonia dominates Open Water Swim

Despite 15 - 20 knots of wind and a three foot chop at Pacific Harbour, venue of the SPG Open Water Event, New Caledonia dominated the races.

Officials had to shorten the course from 5km to 3km as turn buoys were being blown off their positions, making the original course unswimmable.

In the Mens division, Olivier Saminadin won his 9th Gold Medal of the Games, taking out the event in 37 minutes 41.14 seconds. He was followed across the line by team-mate Antoine Dahlia (2nd) and Tahitian Tunui Cowan (3rd).

In the Womens division, Charlotte Robin won her 4th Gold Medal of the Games, winning her event in a time of 38 minutes 21.51 seconds. New Caledonia had another clean sweep with Aurelia Dubois-Duvivier in 2nd and Esther Meallet in 3rd place.
