Palau Wrestling team is proud to recognize and thank Michael Ondich and his family for returning and visiting all of us in Palau. Mr. Ondich and family arrived earlier this week and he has visited many times in the past bringing his family and wrestlers as part of their cultural exchange and training to other countries and of course it’s always best to return to Palau. In fact, one of his former students who came to Palau in 1999 and also in 2001 while in High School loved Palau so much that he returned this time around and he is Mr. Tenkoran Agyeman, a 3 time all American Wrestler and now a teacher out of Alexandria Virginia Elementary where he teaches and coaches middle school kids. We are so grateful to have him visit and help our teams prepare for the upcoming Belau Games and provide a lot of pointers on how to improve our game on the mat. They will be here for another week before returning back home, but of course, they will be enjoying the games and visiting many of their long time friends, going fishing and sites in Palau. If some of you remember, Ondich first came to Palau back in the 1978 as a volunteer and taught English at Mindszenty High School before returning back to the US to finish his degree. All of his former students that were at Mindszenty are now his long time friends and are now contributing to Palau society. While the kids are all grown up now, Mike eventually retired in 2016 but still enjoys coaching at Homesdale High School in located in Pennsylvania.
