Gold Galore for Fiji Weightlifters

Fiji came away with TWO OCEANIA CHAMPIONSHIPS SENIOR GOLD MEDALS and several other medals at the Oceania Championships in Samoa today.

The Championships is also the Olympic Qualification event for London 2012. It also doubles up as Commonwealth Championships; Oceania Youth & Oceania Junior Championships

Manueli TULO won the Men's 56kg with a total lift of 237kg (107kg Snatch and 130kg for Clean & Jerk)

Maria Liku won the Women's 58kg category with a massive personal best of 188kg (84kg for Snatch and 104kg for Clean & Jerk) to win the Oceania Championships. She is now ranked 23rd in the World this year.

Bothe Maria and Tulo, also won the Commonwealth Championships category but are currently not eligible for Commonwealth Medals.

Sikeli Dau lifted a Personal Best of 187kg (80kg Snatch & 107kg C&J) to finish with a 4th place in the 56 Kg Senior and a Bronze in the Oceania Junior Championships and Silver in the Oceania Youth Championships.

Seruwaia Malani , Manueli Tulo's younger Sister, won silver medal in the Oceania Senior Champs and also the Gold Medal in the Oceania Junior Championships with a lift of 110kg (snatch - 45 kg & 65kg in C&J) in the 48kg.

Arieta Mucunavoce won the Oceania Junior Gold medal with a lift of 115kg (50kg Snatch & 65kg C&J)

Ella Tawai lifted a PB of 120Kg (snatch 50kg and C&J 70kg) in the 58kg, to win a Silver medal in the Oceania Youth  Championships

Fiji team has been scoring well in their points towards the Olympic Qualification.
