Fiji to Host 2014 Oceania Weightlifting Championships

Fiji won the bid to host the 2014 Oceania Weightlifting Championships, during the Oceania Weightlifting Congress, being held in Samoa.

Fiji was announced as the Host, when Federated States of Micronesia withdrew its bid.

Our bid was presented by Manueli Tulo.

Dr Thamas Ajan, the President of International Weightlifting Federation announced that the Championships will also serve as the qualification event for the 2nd Youth Olympic Games, which will be held in 2014 in Nanjing, China.

Fiji last hosted the Championships in 2010, on behalf of Nauru.

Fiji’s bid was supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports as well as FASANOC.
