Patrick Tuidraki Joins Cricket Fiji Staff

Cricket Fiji’s development team has a new face to add to its ranks with 22-year-old Patrick Tuidraki joining the team in the west.

Tuidraki, who is also in the Cricket Fiji senior squad, will be based in Lautoka and takes over from Gaurang Patel, who stood down from the position last month to concentrate on his own cricket.

It was a natural progression for the Nadi-born Tuidraki to take over the reins as he has been assisting Patel with the schools programs in the west for the last two years.

“When Gaurang started as a development officer in 2009 I was helping coach the schools in Nadi,” Tuidraki said.

“I’m really enjoying being a development officer and I’m learning a lot of new things.”

Tuidraki is currently running clinics in primary schools around Lautoka and will hold a primary school competition in the second term before moving on to the secondary schools in the third term.

Development manager Jo Rika said Tuidraki was a great addition to the team and was confident he would continue the work of Patel and fellow western-based development officer Sekove Ravoka.

“Cricket is going through a strong growth period in the west and this is due to the hard work of our development staff based over there,” Rika said.

“I am delighted to have Patrick joining the team. He has been working with Gaurang for some time now so knows what is expected and I think he will do very well.”

Cricket Fiji currently has development staff based in Suva, Nadi, Lautoka and Moce, and it is hoped to expand this to include the Coral Coast and Vanua Levu depending on available funding.
