Basketball Entertainment Group is formed with
the aim of creating an atmosphere for development in basketball. Our
plan currently is to create events, fast and exciting to capture and
stimulate Basketball players to have the that urgency to be
competitive, thus improving their skills and fitness and mainly their

So our first event which we have already hosted is
the 3 on 3 basketball Knock out series 2009 which will run from 31st
June 2009 through to December 2009. Other events which will be
organized is a 3 point shootout, which will be organized in a date to
be finalized.

So this is how the 1st leg went...

first leg kicked off on the 31st May 2009, with somewhat a very slow
and long day.  As the day progressed we encountered few blunders on the
way, such as continous power cuts.

But regardless of those
down falls the tournament went on with 12 Mens team and only 8 in the
women's division. The tournament was held in a knock out format which
saw teams being very competitive in scoring within the time of 7

The teams that entered the 3 on 3 basketball knock
out were: Marist 1 and 2 consisting of selected players from Marist
Basketball Club, Tau'a a team that consists mainly of young players
with the ability to exhibit talent and a bit of the "AND1" showcase,
Neiko Juice, Konvitd, Telekom, Footlockers, Henderson Hammerheads and
Pinoys... while the girls team consist of teams like Solohost,
Dfenders, Dreamtime, Sunrise and Lakers... All these teams consist of
mainly young and upcoming talents which Solomon Islands has to offer.

teams got knocked out and teams progressing to the next rounds, the
atmosphere began to intensify, but teams continue to keep there cool
and not pressurize themselves too much.

As we come into the
final with Marist 1 vs Tau'a, saw Tau'a took control of the game in the
first 2 minutes leading 2-0 but Marist bounced back to take the lead,
with a well drilled side like marist plus their fitness as a bonus saw
marist took the game at full time 6-3. In the women's side, saw Sunrise
take on the Easter Basketball Champions Solohost. It was a repeat of
the Easter Basketball Challenge. Sunrise had the height advantage over
Solohost, but Solohost never let go of the hope of bagging another
title to their collection. However that was not the case, in the game
of 3on3 it shows that it is a totally different game. Sunrise did not
waste time in on capitalising on all of Solohost mistakes and come away
winners of the 3on3 basketball Knock Out 2009 1st leg.

players for the day: Waige Turueke, Uriel Matanani, Goldie Kari
