High School B’ball heats up

The High School Basketball competition is getting tough as it enters its second weekend of matches.

Five matches were played this past Sunday to make it 12 matches altogether to be played since the start of the competition last weekend.

Sundays’ match-ups saw St Nicholas defeated King George girls 10-6, Bishop Epalle boys defeated Don Bosco 26-20, Betikama girls defeated USP 42-12, St Nicholas boys defeated USP 49 -25 and King George Sixth boys defeated Betikama 31-22.

Many new talents were showcased from the participating schools, a good sign of the development of School Basketball in the country.

The Vice president of the Solomon Islands basketball, Delma Nori said it is from this current crop of young players that the basketball squad for the 2023 Pacific Games will most likely be selected.

Matches will continue throughout the week.
