3X3 Basketball Jam Championship Series

The Solomon Island Basketball Federation (SIBF) is organizing a 3x3-basketball championship called 3x3 Basketball Jam to tip-off this Sunday 6 August 2017 at the Multi-purpose hall (outdoor courts).

The 3x3 Basketball Jam is three-part championship series, which is part of the SIBFs 3x3-competition development plan in promoting the new code throughout 2017.

3x3 basketball is the most preferred format of recreational basketball played around the world and is increasingly becoming a popular form of competitive Basketball that has now elevated to an Olympic Sport status. This means 3x3-basketball code will now feature in all future Olympic Games.

3x3 basketball a fast paced and fiercely competitive game that can showcase skill and develop urban stars. At the same time, it is a game for both genders that is enjoyed in a recreational setting by and for all skill levels. This makes recreational and competitive events fun and entertaining to both players and fans, reaching out to those who have traditionally not been a part of the basketball community.

The program will benefit from urban sports that have a link to the street and popular culture like 3x3, Self- refereeing, individual skills, shooting, dunking and promoting a community of respect and tolerance through fun.

3x3 Basketball Jam will be registered online on the 3x3 digital tool, so that it will become a FIBA endorsed event, and also players can always check their ranking online.

 As of today, there are altogether 24 men’s and women’s team that will compete in Series 1 this weekend and will continue onto next weekend. The pool rounds will be played on this Sunday from 11am to 2pm, with the final rounds to be played by next weekend before the crowning of the Series 1 winners.

The 3x3 championship series will feature top men and women’s open teams such as Gunners, Marist, Crusaders, Sunrise and Defenders, including new players from the high school tournament.

All teams registered must check on-line on the 3x3planet.com for more details and finalize their registration fees before taking the court on Sunday.

3x3 Basketball Jam Series 2 and Series 3 dates will be announced this Sunday at the competition venue.
