FBL to play a short season

As agreed upon by team managers, coaches and representatives Sunday, the much awaited 2013 season of the Filipino Basketball League will be a short one.

During the meeting held at the Bethlehem Park, this year’s season will play a single round robin format with the top eight teams advancing immediately to the quarterfinals. After the quarterfinal round, it will be able to determine the top four teams that will battle it out for a slot to the championship round.

The meeting was supervised by FBL chairman Alexander Gatchalian. Gatchalian together with vice chairman Engr. Lovella Barido and secretary Marchelle Dancel.

Teams that were in the meeting were FR Spoilers, Rangers, Western Union, Ilocandia Bulls, Choppers, Jaguars, Rams, Hanpa Cardinals and Liquid Sky. For the Master’s Division it had representatives from D’Originals, PPR All Stud and PRR Masters.

It was also agreed upon that teams have until March 3 to pay the registration fee and injury fee as the tournament is tentatively to tip off on March 10 at the Palau National gym.

According to chairman Gatchalian, team managers, coaches and representatives are reminded that there will be another meeting on February 10, 2 p.m. at the same venue to further discuss the rules and guidelines of the league. Attendance is a must to be able to determine the number of teams that will see action for this year’s league.
