Peched Raw gets NBL traveling trophy

Three is a charm.
Team Ngerbeched “Peched” Raw last Saturday was awarded the traveling trophy for winning three championship titles in the IP&E National Basketball League.

The awarding was done during the 11th PNOC Sports Banquet and Awards Night at the Bai Ngaraachamayong Cultural Center. Palau Basketball Federation vice president and National Basketball Development Officer Topps Sungino presented the specially carved trophy by Tebang Woodcarving Shop to members of team Peched Raw together with the sponsor Surangel Whipps Sr.

Peched Raw won the championship titles in the NBL League in 2006, 2009 and 2011. Other lists of champions in the league are as follows: Idid 4x4 Wheelers (2001, 2004); Ngermid Rivals (2002, 2007); Medalaii Meda Boyz (2003); Peleliu Islanders (2005, 2010); and Medalaii Stingers (2008).

On the other hand, PBF is preparing the Palau men’s 17 and Under Junior national squad for the upcoming Western Division of the Micronesia Youth Basketball Tournament which will be held in CNMI from May 21 to 26.

The team will be coached by Ziske Asanuma and assisted by Logan Ngiriou.

Palau Basketball Federation vice president and National Basketball Development Officer Topps Sungino also said that two members of the team namely Marvic Ngchar and Raddision Dorado are currently in the Philippines to try out for the Fatima University basketball team.

The two players of team Palau were introduced by Guam Basketball Federation president Darell dela Paz to the headcoach of Fatima University during the 2011 MYBT 15 and Under program.  By Peter Erick L. Magbanua (Island Times News)
