Team Palau thanks supporters

Members of team Palau express their heartfelt thanks to all who supported them during their stint in the just concluded 2012 Micronesian Basketball Tournament (MBT) Open division held at the University of Guam gym.

In the said tournament, Team Palau finished with the silver medal after losing to powerhouse team Guam, 88-69 in the championship round held Saturday night.

In was an uphill climb for team Palau as they have to get past Guam Juniors, 77-71 in the semifinal round while team Guam took a seat in the finals with their 75-51 mastery over Marshall Islands.

“The boys were all fired up and gave their best during the championship match. They were even more motivated as members of the Palau Community Association in Guam and Koror State Club of Guam came to watch all of their games. We thank all the supporters and fans who cheered and supported the team,” said Palau Basketball Federation Development Officer Topps Sungino.

Team Palau is composed of Mike Williams, Perry Oiterong, Reid “Una” Rikrik, Gino Smau, Mark Pagayanan, Douglas Schmidt, John Stills, Lester Mendoza, Arnold Undecimo, Kent Moore, Traxx Mark and Leon Mengloi with team coach Ziske Asanuma with Logan Ngiriou as assistant coach, Ivan Blesam as program coordinator/team manager and John Stills as referee official.
