Breakers, Spoilers down foes in IP&E ABL

Team Breakers and FR Spoilers managed to hang in the crucial moments as they managed to beat separate foes, Friday night in the ongoing 2012 season of the IP&E Amateur Basketball League (ABL) at the Palau National gym.

The Breakers showed dominance as they beat Dngeronger Bullets, 81-50. The Breakers went off to a strong start as they posted a 16-8 lead in the first quarter and then extended their lead at the end of the first half via 38-23.

From there, the Breakers never looked back as they went all the way to score the win with Masao Umedib leading the scoring chores with 19 points while Raul Osias topscored for Dngeronger Bullets with 14.

On the other hand, FR Spoilers managed to bounce back in the second half to beat a tough Palau Pacific Resort (PPR) Shark Attack, 109-71.

The Spoilers went off to a fast start as they built a 32-18 lead in the opening quarter, however, PPR Shark Attack climb back and managed to cut the lead to 51-50 at the end of the first half.

The Spoilers then managed to regain composure in the third canto as they outscored PPR Shark Attack with a 29-7 output to post an 80-57 advantage. From there, FR Spoilers continued their attack as they went all the way to win the game.

Ace shooter Michael Bombita topscored for the Spoilers with 49 points as teammate Aries Echanova added 28 while Jaques Stills led the scoring for PPR Shark Attack with 21 on the losing end.

In other games, the Cardinals won over Ngerkesoaol, 88-86 in overtime; Nationals beat Ikelauans, 91-64; and 4x4 Wheelers defeated Ranchers, 73-52.

Games resume tonight with Airwaves versus Aqua Smooth at 6 p.m. followed by the Rivals-Stingers tussle at 7:30 p.m. while the Cardinals will play against Spoilers in the main game at 9 p.m.

Tomorrow’s matches will have 4x4 Wheelers against On Fire at 6 p.m. as Ididers will face the Nationals at 7:30 p.m. while B.O.G. will meet Ranchers at 9 p.m. Thursday games will feature Ngerkesoaol taking on Breakers at 6 p.m. followed by the Stingers-Surangel Kings match at 7:30 p.m. while PPR Shark Attack will meet Dngeronger Bullets at 9 p.m.
