As expected KES Stars were far too strong for the less experienced GBH Smuuch team and had a good lead by the half time break of 10 points. However Smuuch made a strong effort in the 3rd quarter to only lose this quarter by 3 points. With the final score of 42 – 26 in favor of the Stars, it was their turn to advance to the Championship game on Tuesday.

The second semi provided everything we expected. The SDA Queens took control fron the start and had a handy lead of 27-17 at the long break. In fact the Queens led up until the final 4 minutes of the last quarter when the Lady Dolphins got a wake up call and started to close the gap in scores to take a 1 point lead and send their supporters into a frenzy of cheering. From thereon it was point for point, first MES had the lead and then SDA.

The big players of the Queens were dominating play around the boards and the Lady Dolphins main rebounder, Talika Raikadroka seemed out of the play until the final 2 minutes when she took several rebounds to send their main scorer, Sarabeth Ksano down court on fast breaks that finally won the game, 43-40.

So it will be SDA Queens and GBH Smuuch in today’s Consolation Final for 3rd place and then tomorrow (Tuesday) KES Stars will face off against KES Lady Dolphins for the Championship.
