Adopting FIBA Rules and Regulations

The Father Duenas Alumni Association (FDAA) held its 3rd Annual Basketball Tournament which follows FIBA Rules and Regulations. This tournament is the only one that has adopted FIBA rules in order to promote International Basketball.  The tournament is held at the Father Duenas Phoenix Center which provides a basketball court that meets the international basketball measurements, shot clocks, score boards, and equipment for the score’s table (team foul cups, individual foul flags, etc.).

The Organizers’ are blessed with volunteers. One of them is Guam Basketball Confederation General Secretary Tony Thompson, also the Vice Principal and Athletic Director of Father Duenas, who volunteers his free time to officiate games, and Mr. Ismael Perez who is FIBA certified to work the score’s table. Mr. Perez shares his knowledge of FIBA Rules and Regulations to those who are interested on learning how to score keep and learn about FIBA Basketball.

The statement, "You do not need to know how to play basketball in order for you to score keep" is true. Many of the volunteers who run the table do not know how to play basketball. They understand the rules of the game, but do not see themselves playing the sport. However, it will be helpful for the basketball players to know all the other rules to better understand what is happening behind the scenes.

We all need to work together - For the Love of the Game.
