Guam Basketball Confederation and FIBA Oceania Present The Gatorade/Monster Energy Men's and Women's Varsity Basketball League

The Guam Basketball Confederation and FIBA Oceania in conjunction with
Mid Pac Distributors and Calvo's Enterprises present the 2010
Inaugural Gatorade / Monster Energy Men's and Women's Varsity
Basketball League.  This Varsity League intends to feature the best
Local and Military teams competing in a high level Varsity caliber
competition, where the best players on the best teams on island will
battle for the coveted Varsity Championship for the League, and the
bragging rights to the title of "Best team on Island".

The following are the specifics of the league to date, and we invite
each of your teams to join us in this league.  We are still currently
working on finalizing additional details and are still in the process
of securing facilities.

The league format is as follows:

1.  Both Men's and Women's games will follow the FIBA Official
Basketball Rules 2008, inclusive of shot clocks, time outs, ball
specifications, and the like. There will be no modifications to the
FIBA Official Basketball Rules 2008 with the exceptions of court
dimensions and markings for the Key and 3 point lines, depending on
the Gym site utilized for each particular games. Please reference the
link below to familiarize yourself with the 2010 FIBA Rules.  MSOA
will officiate the league.

2.  Both Men's and Women's teams will follow a double round robin
competition format.  We anticipate 7 men's teams competing (1.Guam
Mens Sr. National team, 2. Guam Men's Jr. National Team, 3. Andersen
AFB Team A, 4. Andersen AFB Team B, 5. Big Navy- Joint Command team,
6. Budweiser Kings, and 7. MVP Stars).  That equals 12 league games,
and 1 guaranteed playoff game. So for the Men's teams at the very
least you will have 13 games total, with more possible based on your
team advancing in the playoffs.

-For the Women's side we anticipate 5 teams competing (1. Guam Women's
Sr. National Team, 2. Guam Women's Jr. National Team, 3. Joint Region-
AIr Force and Navy Combined Team, 4. Aloha Maid Masters, and 5. Mixed
Women's Team (Sponsor and Roster pending).  That equals 8 league
games, with the top 4 Women's teams advancing to a single elimination
playoffs, and 1 guaranteed playoff game. So at the very least you will
have 9 games total with more possible based on your team advancing in
the playoffs, with the exception of the 5th place team which will be
eliminated from playoff contention based on final standings.

3.  Playoff format is a Single elimination with all teams on the Men's
side advancing to the playoffs, and on the Women's side only the top 4
teams advancing, with the 5th place team eliminated from playoff
contention.

4.  Games will be played primarily at the University of Guam Field
House on Tuesdays Nights at 6:30pm and 8:30pm with a dual court system
( 4 games on that night), and on Saturday Afternoons and Evenings at
4:00pm, 6:00pm, and 8:00pm, again with a 2 court system ( 6 games on
that night).

***Please note that between the weeks of May 18th, 2010 thru June
12th, 2010 the UOG Field House will be unavailable for Games due to
the Graduation for the islands high schools scheduled for the
facility.  During that timeframe, games will be played at alternate
gym sites that are currently being secured, namely FDMS, GWHS, and
Harvest Christian Academy gym facilities. Games at a single gym site
during this timeframe would only be 2 games scheduled for a week
night, and 3 games scheduled for a weekend.

5.  Entrance fees for all teams both Men and Women is $850.00 and are
due in full no later than April 19th prior to the start of the league.

6.  Roster Size is limited to 15 on the Playing Roster per game day.

7.  Players must play in 50% plus 1 game to be eligible to play in the
post season playoffs. 7 games for Men's, 5 games for Women's.

8.  League is slated to begin play on Tuesday, April 20th, 2010 at the
UOG Field house with 4 games on tap that night.
