Basketball Fiji invites applications for the position of Head Coach to join its team and lead in moulding our future national team players and as a part of the Under 15 Boy’s or Girl’s National Basketball Team ahead of the FIBA 2018 U15 Oceania Championships in Papua New Guinea.

The main objective for the role is to lead the development of our young athletes and build a team consisting of 12 players per team for both boys and girls that can compete with the best in the Oceania Region.

The position represents a unique and challenging opportunity to lead with the whole Basketball Fiji team and cultivate our youth’s potential to compete with the best. We are looking for people with experience in similar positions at a national level with a high working knowledge of basketball, experience in handling youth teams, excellent communication skills, willingness to work and a high level of patience.    

Duties and qualification of the National Team Coaches include but are not limited to the following;

• Lead the team in technical preparation ahead of the U15 Tournament.
• Contribute to the team selection together with the selection committee
• Manage support staff and assist with fundraising and sponsorship plans
• International experience in similar tournaments is a plus
• Create team’s standards and measurable goals
• Provide weekly updates on team progress to BF COO
• Oversee planning and preparation phases which will be conducted in multiple locations within Fiji
• Provide a post tournament report to the Federation.
• Possess the ability to teach young national team prospects and create a system where they can perform.

 Team Fiji Coaches on the understanding that the positions are voluntary. Implicit in the role is the rewards of enormous satisfaction gained through leading the young prospects to represent Fiji to compete and excel in world class stage. Chosen coaches will have an opportunity to attend the FIBA Pre-Tournament Training which will be held in Albury Australia.
