Thursday 26th of March, development officers from Basketball Fiji conducted a one and half hour basketball clinic with students from the Fiji Vocational Centre, located in Rewa Street. The basketball clinic was conducted on the Indian College Basketball court which is located directly opposite the school. The Basketball Fiji officers- Mark Seccombe, Aggie Sokosoko and Laisiasa Puamau with the help of National under 20 basketball rep Allen Price, taught these young men and women the basic skills that is needed in a basketball game. When the session was over the students were all familiar with the techniques of dribbling, passing and shooting. All the young men, women and teachers at the centre really appreciated the kind gesture shown by the Basketball Fiji Federation in sending development officers to the school. It was a very humbling experience to witness that through basketball brought so much joy and happiness into these young individuals lives. For those few hours on the basketball court these fine young group of individuals felt like ordinary basketball players. We at Basketball Fiji look forward to the future sessions to come that will be conducted every Thursday from 1pm to 2.30pm. We would like to thank the school for giving us the opportunity to work there students.

Basketball Fiji will also be helping with our special needs schools on a weekly basis. We hope that not only will they enjoy their basketball but will start competitions amongst such schools.

The other two schools involved in the program are:

Suva Special School

Friday 1:00 – 2:30

Gospel School for the Deaf

See you back on the court soon.
