Federations upgrade sport management workshop
Sportzware is a new sports software created by an Information Technology (IT) organization called Sporting Pulse from Australia. IT consultant from Sporting Pulse in Melbourne, Mr. Craig Hood conducted the workshop for the participants.
Mr. Hood taught the participants three IT related components, that includes:
(1) Competition management software called "sportzware" which forms a database of the web site;
(2) How to populate their sites; and
(3) Provide the web site for all the sport associations which can be viewed on www.oceaniasport.com
The workshop hopes to bring efficiencies to the management of sport in the country that will result in more competitions being organized and better access to the results of these competitions. The participants also covered how to organize knockout competitions, round robins and regular session leagues. The participants also learned how to generate fixtures, edit them and post results to their web sites.
Hood was really impressed by how quickly these participants have picked up in these three days. He also reiterated that the "sportzware" software was difficult computer software to learn. He added that he have no doubt that in the next few months, there will be a lot of efficiency in sports management in the country.
The course is being hosted by the National Olympic Committee of Solomon Islands (NOCSI) who is an ONOC member. NOCSI have organized Hood's visit to minimize the costs of the typically high fares of travel in the region.
The Workshop Participants would like to sincerely thank the Sporting Pulse IT for sending Mr. Craig Hood to conduct this workshop and NOCSI for organizing it. They were really impressed to have learned new skills and knowledge about the web site and are hoping to improve on the management of sport in the country.
All credits goes to Mr. Craig Hood for his time and effort in teaching us how to work with the website.
