BASEBALL LEAGUE COMMITTEE

On Wednesday 23rd August 2006 the Solomon Islands Baseball/Softball Federation (SIBSF) held a meeting with the softball/baseball clubs in Honiara to discuss on issues affecting the running of the past competitions. There were a lot of areas discussed and needed to be address in order for the sport to be alive again.

The meeting was called for purposely to organize competitions to select and prepare players for the upcoming South Pacific Games in Samoa next year. Hence, it was decided that a Competition Committee to be elected to run the Softball and Baseball seasons for 2006.

After the election, the committee members elected are as follows; Chairperson - Allan Castro, Vice Chairperson - Helen Wasi, Secretary -Christina Ofani, Treasurer - Joana Ipo, Members - Peter Maneasi, Jacob Pita, Rintia Fafale and Elizabeth Fifii. This committee will run with the assistance of the Development Officer for Baseball and Softball, Mr. Alick Oitalo and the Vice President, Mr. Francis Deve.

However, at another meeting on Friday 25th August 2006, the Honiara Competition Committee agreed the the starting date for the competition is Sunday 1st October 2006. This is to give more time for team to prepare themselves to compete.

The Executive of SIBSF wish to acknowledge those who are in the committee for their willingness to take up the duty and wishes them success in the 2006 season. The Federation also pledges its support for the committee and is willing to assist in the running of the competition for both baseball and softball.

Solomon Islands Baseball/Softball Federation further extend its appeal to business houses locally and abroad to assist the Honiara Competition Committee in sponsoring the season through funding and materials needed to make the season happen.
