FIH COACH EDUCATORS WORKSHOP

FIH had offered Oceania hockey Federation an opportunity to have a FIH Coach Educators Course run in Auckland as there were a number of FIH staff and presenters available to facilitate.

The main presenters and assessors were; FIH Academy Manager Andre Oliveira, FIH Officiating Manager Craig Gribble, and Hockey Australia Education Manager John Mowat.  There were 13 New Zealand participants, 5 Australian participants and 1 Fijian. David Peebles (Oceania Competition Chair) also took the opportunity to meet the group and share the new competition structures that both FIH and OHF were introducing.

One of the key changes from the first course held in Stratford in 2015 was that there were 4 umpire managers involved in the group as this course is about coaching coaches or umpires, rather than coaching athletes. The skillsets are different and challenged a number of the participants during the first day. However FIH Academy Manager Andre Oliveira made special comment to Oceania on the high calibre of the participants and all were accredited.

Attending were:

SSimon Brill, Jamie Carroll, Amber Church, Colin French, Hymie Gill, Kelly Hudson, Lloyd McLoughlin, OPaul Morrison, Emma Phelps, Stuart Pitu, Husmit Unka, Nicolette Van Zeijl, Nicole Yeoman (all NZ), Eliza Coldicott, Suzanne Henderson, Todd Kitto, Hugh Purvis, Richard Willis (all AUS), Ana Finau (Fiji).
