At the recent FIH Owen G Glenn Men’s Champions Trophy in New Zealand Leandro Negre met with three previous Global Youth leaders. Nicola Connell from New Zealand, Nina Niedermyer from Germany and Anna Mehonshen from Australia. All three young women attended an international youth leaders event in 2005, 2008 and 2010 respectively. This global programme bought together young people from all our the world and provided them with an opportunity to learn more about themselves, leadership and hockey. It is a credit to them they are still contributing in a very real way back to our sport.
Nicola Connell has gone on to become a fulltime paid staff member of Hockey New Zealand, while Anna Mehonshen is now studying Sport and Event Management in Australia. Nina Niedermyer is a journalist who was reporting for 5 different newspapers at Champions Trophy as well as collating articles for the Geman Hockey Magazine.
