CNMI held tough until late against Guam on Tuesday, but Guam scored five runs late for a 14-6 victory at Daini Field.
RICO CASTRO put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for Guam. He singled in the third and fifth innings and doubled in the first and ninth innings.
CNMI's poor play in the field contributed to the loss. CNMI gave up two unearned runs while committing four errors over the course of the game.
John PANGELINAN got the win for Guam despite allowing six runs over nine innings. PANGELINAN struck out 10, walked one and gave up 14 hits.
Gregory Iskawa was charged with the loss. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out none, and allowed five runs.
Guam didn't relinquish the lead after scoring five runs in the second inning when it scored on an error, a fielder's choice, a sacrifice fly by MATTHEW MUNA, and an RBI single by RYAN MARTINEZ.
Guam built upon its lead with three runs in the third. The inning looked promising, as John SALAS singled, plating Shon MUNA Jr. to kick things off. That was followed up by BRIAN BALAJADIA's single, scoring SALAS.
