Pohnpei and Kosrae's top female tennis players, Maggie Finnen and Delia Sigrah, went head to head in a singles match earlier this morning at the Pohnpei Tennis Court.
Finnen took the win after two sets, leaving the score at 6-4 6-0.
The sixteen year old has been playing tennis for about 10 years. Finnen first got into the game just for fun when her neighbor's kids began playing. What was once just a hobby, tennis flourished into a passion for Finnen.
Finnen's training for this year's Micronesian Games started three months ago. The lead up to this week has been a very long one for Finnen and the rest of Pohnpei's tennis team due to their daily practices since June.
When asked about her favorite part of the Micronesian Games, Finnen stated, "Probably that you get to meet all the different people from different countries."
Before departing, Finnen shared a piece of advice for future Micronesian Games hopefuls. "Just play your best and don't get nervous because I got nervous and that's why my game was longer than it should've been," Finnen said.
