Vanuatu Olympic Team prepare for January Qualifier
With less than a month to go to the OFC Group B Olympic Qualifying tournament in Auckland, Vanuatu national coach Carlos Buzzetti has intensified his training program for his Olympic Team.
After a very sluggish start in the beginning of the month, the majority of the players are reported to be turning up for training morning and midday Monday to Thursday - plus Tuesdays and Thursdays reserved for friendly matches.
Players like Yelou Robert, Alphonse Welin, Freskip Vatu, Roger Joe, and Geoffrey Gete have all returned from Luganville and have joined the rest of the team.
Koko Alick has been sick with a flue but is reported to be recovering well. Ken Masauvakalo has yet to show up in the field despite promises that he was returning to training with the team. Willie August also has a similar case. Despite various approaches he has not turned up for training.
Meanwhile Olympic Team coach Wilson August is expected to rejoin Carlos and his boys this week after being away for the past two weeks. August and assitant national coach Alwyn Job have been attending a coaching course at the OFC headquarters in Auckland, New Zealand.
Vanuatu is in Group B with New Zealand, Tonga, Cook Islands and American Samoa.
