Tafea FC win first leg against Lotoha'pai

Tafea FC beat the Tongan champions by 2 goals to 1 thanks to goals from Marco Mahe and Alphonse Wellin.

Both teams were tied to a 1-all draw in the first spell. Marco scored from a free kick for Tafea while Lotoha'pai FC also scored from the penalty spot to level off.

Despite tight deffensive play by the Tongans, the ni-Vans proved they were the stronger side when Alphonse came from the midfield to score the only goal in the second half and the deciding goal for his Tafea team.

They second and final match will be on Wednesday 23 March. Tafea will need at least a draw to make it through, while Lotoha'pai will have to beat the two goal margin to see a chance.

Both Tafea FC and Lotoha'pai FC have competed in the last three Oceania Club Championships held in Fiji and Papua New Guinea.
