Vanuatu win two match series against New Caledonia

The national Under 17 team preparing for the Oceania World Cup qualifying tournament in Noumea in April, have won two frindly games with the New Caledonia team last weekend.
First they beat New Caledonia 4 - 3 on Saturday 12 February; then they beat the visitors again 6 - 0 in their second encounter at the Port Vila Stadium on Monday 21 February 2005.
VFF Technical Director and National Coach Carlos Buzzetti was happy, not only that they won both games, but that at least they managed to have two international matches as part of the preparations toward the Noumea tournament in April.
"As you saw, we have thirty players now in training, so we had to give everyone a chance to perform at a real match situation. Most of these boys were playing their first ever international match.
"In the first game on Saturday we gave the first fifteen the chance to play. Then today we gave the other fifteen the chance.
"I am happy, but we still have some more work to do, and we will soon name the final 20 man team", Carlos says after the Monday match at the Port Vila Stadium.
The Lord Mayor of Port Vila Joseph Aron, was among the crowd at the grand stand on Monday to watch the game.
On Saturday the Minister of Trade and Tourism was watching the Vanuatu junior team in action from the grand stand.
The six goals against New Caledonia were scored by Nanua Nato, James Shem (2 goals), Aru Tari, Jean Baptiste and Joseph Namariau.
