Referees receive Awards

Representatives of Wallsend Touch Association recently attended the NSWTA referees awards evening. The evening was held at Bankstown and was the 40th anniversary of the event. It was a fantastic night which saw some of our own receive recognition for their achievements in our sport.

These referees attend Wallsend Touch to referee at park level as well as representing at tournaments. We thank them for that.

Wallsend touch would like to congratulate the following referees on attaining awards and their badge upgrades.

Upgrades

Level 4 – State graded referees – Lachlan Bradley and Greg Grey

Level 3 and inducted into the TRYS program – Ashley Fullick

Awards

Referee of the tournament for PWMC – Lachlan Bradley

Hornets region most improved referee of the year – Joint winners – Lachlan Bradley & Ashley Fullick

A bit about our newly upgraded referees.

Lachlan has been refereeing since he was 12 years old and has advanced through his badge levels over the past few years. He was inducted into the TRYS program last year and worked hard to achieve the level 4. He was rewarded at Senior State Cup with the honour in receiving this badge level. He has now been presented with his blue jacket and we hope he continues to move forward in view to reach the level 5 (which can only be attained by attending the NTL tournament in March.) Good luck to Lachlan for your future endeavours.

Greg is another stalwart referee for Wallsend Touch. When he is not playing, you will always see him on the field refereeing for our association. Greg also achieved his level 4 badge upgrade at Senior State Cup and was presented with his blue jacket at the awards evening in front of his peers. We look forward to having Greg continue to represent Wallsend Touch at both park and tournament levels.

Ashley has only been refereeing for the past few years and has moved through the badge levels as required. This year she has been inducted into the TRYS program. This is a Talented Referee Youth Squad. A program introduced to mentor and assist young referees to attain their level 4 badge and give them the support needed to handle such a role. We wish Ashley the very best with the program and the commitment she has made to the refereeing arm of our sport.

Congratulations to you all.

Wallsend would also like to thank all referees who attend our competition nights and run all games week in and week out. Thanks to our referees supervisors and director for all of their hard work - Blake Brown, Lachlan Bradley, Josh Little and Tony Bradley. We would also like to make mention to those who also represent the Wallsend teams at tournaments. Without those referees, we would not be able to put teams on the park at representative level.

HAVE YOU SUSTAINED AN INJURY?

Touch Football Australia, WWSI and Sportscover are committed to providing the Touch Football community with a first class Sports Insurance Scheme.

Whilst the National Insurance Scheme (NIS) provides basic levels of cover for players and others participating in Touch Football, it is not all encompassing and does not seek to replace the need for private health and other insurances.

TFA encourages all players and officials to take out their own Private Health Insurance, Life Insurance and Loss of Income coverage over and above the coverage provided under this Scheme.
