DOHA:  TEAM Power Horse upset team Boracay Restaurant by a mere two points in a nail-biting game that went to overtime for the Pinoy Basketball of Qatar (Pibaq) U18 Season Two at Al Gharafa Training Gym recently.

Coach Francis Mercado led his team to victory against the equally-spirited team of Coach Jojo Longalong. The final score was 53-51.

The teams were deadlocked at 23 points at the end of the second period but Power Horse emerged on top with three points at the end of the third quarter. The score was 32-29.

Team Boracay, however, tried to control the pace of the game with Dela Cruz and Asuncion stepping up for their team. With two minutes left in the clock, they even managed a six-point lead over their opponent.

But, a two-point basket made by Corrales for Power Horse and a crucial foul on Andres that sent him to the free throw line for a 2-point opportunity spoiled the victory mood of the Boracay boys. It was followed by Catibog's 2-point basket for Power Horse with only 15 seconds left in the fourth period forcing the game to be deadlocked at 46.

In the overtime period, both teams worked doubly hard for a win. But a series of fouls committed by Boracay players towards the end hurt them the most and gave the other team an opportunity to earn crucial points. Back-to-back free throws made by Andres and Talleres gave Power Horse the two points it needed to claim its first victory of the season.

In another match, Young CEG emerged victorious against McDonalds Ooredoo 67-60. Eskit Nosidal and Ivan Flores were the top scorers for the winning team.

The current team standing for the 18U Season 2 has both Young Junalvin-ICMS and Qatar Kentz on top with two wins while QBBC, Dukhan Ballers and Power Horse have one win and a loss. Both Boracay Restaurant and McDonalds are at the bottom of the pack with two losses.
