Bank Med League: Final 8 (Away Games); The falldown of the Giants

With the curtains dropping down on the Home stage of the Final 8 and a short winter break, the gears were getting ready once again to launch the Away stage. The league started on again with a game between Sagesse – Beirut and Anibal in the cold city of Zahle where the local team gave a remarkable show ending the first period in their own favor 29-28. But experience can never be replaced, and Sagesse pulled away in the 3rd and 4th Quarters of the game returning back to Beirut with a relaxing win 70-60.

The away games witnessed thriller moments when Champville, who is seeking to attain the title from long time rivals Al Riyadi Beirut fell before underdogs Anibal Zahle 79-72 in a game that a high level of challenge between Champville’s star Jasmon Youngblood and Anibal’s newcomer Rasheim Wright.

On the coast and specifically in the capital Beirut, another shocking outcome saw the light between Asian Giants and League Title holder Al Riyadi Beirut who surrendered to the fighting spirit of young team Hoops – Beirut led by newly appointed Lebanese Coach Patrick Saba.

At the end of the Final 8, the picture of the Final 4 Teams was finally drawn with no major suprises to the list : Champville was ranked First, the champions Al Riyadi positioned second, the Northern power horse Mouttahed ranked third, and old Champions Sagesses – Beirut slipped in fourth.
