B'ball Community Congratulate NOCSI elected officials

The Solomon Islands basketball community wish to congratulate three of its closest members for their successful election into the National Olympic Committee of Solomon Islands (NOCSI) executive board during last week’s NOCSI AGM and Election.

Brian Pongotapu, Nina Davies and Golden Kiloko have all been elected into executive portfolios OF the NOCSI Board following elections held on Sunday 5th March in Honiara. The new executive board make up now includes Brian taking on the post as Vice-President International, Nina retaining the Vice-President Women in Sports post and Golden Kiloko as the new Vice-President Solidarity.

Brian and Nina will now enter into their second consecutive terms as NOCSI executive members whilst Golden is back after a while away from the sporting body, having also served in previous NOCSI boards.

“This is wonderful news for our basketball community including all our other sports in general” said national basketball coach and trainer Fa’amoana Topue.

“I congratulate the trios’ for the effort in vying for these important posts and look forward to supporting all our newly elected members of the NOCSI executive board” he added. 

Brian is the current President of the Solomon Islands Basketball Federation (SIBF) and Golden is a member to SIBF; also heading SIBFs’ Basketball Referees Association. Nina is a veteran basketball player herself with long-time links with SIBF as a certified basketball referee. She is currently serving with the Judo federation and Paralympics.

The NOCSI elections saw Martin Rara of the Athletics federation retaining his President post for NOCSI and now leads a full team of VPs who have very important tasks and responsibilities ahead.
