BMP DEMOLISH FBL

In the break between games, PBF President, Frank Kyota welcomed all team, especially the Biblical Ministries team, to the week-long competition.  In opening the International Tournament and Women’s Super League he stressed the importance of these competitions in the preparation of our National Teams for the upcoming Micronesian Games.

In the main game, the BMP team showed the benefit of developing basketball skills at an early age and understanding the basics of the game.    Coach Ken Keltner ran his charges well with good defence and patient offence.  Hopefully the young local basketball players will keep coming to watch the BMP All Stars to learn what they should develop to become a good basketball player.

The FBL team was much more competitive during the final 3 quarters when all their players showed up and were only outscored by 16 points in this time.  For the BMP All Stars Daniel Heager was the game high scorer with 19 and he was ably assisted on the score sheet by Mark Van Alstyne, Kurt Keltner and Micah Herron with 16, 14 and 14 respectively.  For the FBL team Dennis Castro and Ruben Tecson had 10 each.

In the Super league the two youth teams met in the opening game and Youth Blue surprisingly won by a handy 78 – 56 score line.  These teams comprised a mix of boys and girls from the National Youth Squads and it was the girls who showed the better discipline on court.  Their ability to mix it with the boys surprised all spectators.

For Youth Blue Marvic Ngchar had a huge game with 30 points and he was supported by Wiseman Olkerill (16) and Keene Isao ( 14).  Jodi Jones and Ayla Azuma had 4 each.  For the Yellow team Luke Willter with 19 and Lendl Kloulubak (12) led the scorers and Diliaur Kumaichi (4) and Nicole Gabriel with 6 contributed for the girls.

Games continue tonight with both Palau teams taking the court.  At 6.00pm in the Super League Team Palau take on Youth Blue and in the International Tournament at 8.00pm Team Palau meets up with the FBL All Stars.
