USP TO FURTHER ASSIST BASKETBALL IN 2009

The course will enter a new phase of practical work for these students in year 3 with all students completing a number of practical components within their course.  Each student will work with a sport in achieving agreed set tasks by the student that will benefit the sport.  Each student will need to complete their tasks to the satisfaction of the University and the sport.  The tasks cover a broad range of sports subjects including practical coaching, administration, conditioning testing, sports psychology, and a number of other areas that might benefit the sport.

The students will be undertaking the Bachelor of Science in Sports Science Course and their placements will cover the following courses:

                           Applied Sports and Industrial Placement

Projects in Sports Science and Sports Management I and II

Basketball Fiji has agreed with the Lecturer of the course, Ravin Lal, to be a part of this program which will have large benefits to basketball as well as the students.  Representatives from Basketball Fiji met this week with Mr Colin McCough, Principal Lecturer in Sports and Recreational Studies at Auckland University of Technology (AUT), who is assisting USP in setting the course for next year and received praise for the detail and content of the National Development Program.  Mr McCough believes that Basketball Fiji will be able to provide a positive outcome for the students and the course.

Basketball Fiji is also looking to involve more year 2 students in their NDP in 2009 as members of the NDP Assessment Team.  The time ahead looks very promising for the USP course, Basketball Fiji and Fiji sport in general.  Congratulations USP!

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand.
