ACS gets help from Mili

Miliakere Koyamainavure is assisting Adi Cakobau School for the 2013 Tuckers Central Schools Basketball competition. ACS drew with Saint Joseph’s Secondary 15-15 in another round at  Ed’s Court yesterday. Koyamainavure was happy to assist his former school in the competition this year and said there were a lot of areas she would need to work on with her team.
“So far, so good but the girls will need to build up on other areas where they will need to improve before they enter the final stages of the competition,”Koyamaivure said. “Some areas that we will be working on is defence and also I will try to work on their communication and dribbling skills.
“Their shooting skills need to improve before the national meet.”
Koyamainavure captained the ACS winning team in 2010 and would like to see her old school winning the title again next month. She is currently with Iowa Central Community College doing an Associate Degree of Arts and is into her final year before she graduates.  Mili is playing with Iowa Central team D2.
She stood out for her Iowa Central team helping them in winning their fourth Region XI Championship earlier this year. Koyamainavure scored 16 points and eight rebounds in the 71-65 victory. “The competition there is very intense maybe because they have better facilities than us and we have to work hard to make the team,”she said. “It is a good experience for me and I hope to continue with all the hard work so that I get to play in D1,” she added.
