Coaching Clinic conducted in Lautoka

Level 1 Coaching Clinic was conducted in Lautoka by Basketball Fiji’s Development Officer Lai Puamau on Wednesday 6th June 2013 at LDS Waiyavi Chapel. 47 participants comprising of school teachers, players, volunteers and Lautoka Basketball Association officials attended the 3 hours coaching course. The clinic was organized in anticipation of the launching of the inaugural Tuckers Ice Cream Secondary Schools Program in the Western Division. The Tuckers Ice Cream Western Secondary Schools Basketball Development League is scheduled to begin on June 14 at the Lautoka multi-purpose courts.

Participants at the clinic were up skilled on basketball fundamentals (dribbling, passing, pivoting, shooting and man to man defensive principles), drills and fun games for beginner levels to the sport. The Lautoka Basketball Association aims to utilize the accredited participants to form a volunteer’s core to begin spreading the gospel of basketball in schools. 
Basketball Fiji Level 1 Coaching Clinic will end with a 2nd visit by conductor Lai Puamau on Wednesday 12th June at the LDS Waiyavi Chapel in Lautoka and participants will be awarded with a Basketball Fiji Level 1 Coaching Certificate.
