School Art Competition Returns

by Linda Carr

Models, abstracts, collages and landscapes!  The inaugural Wooden Boat Festival School Art Competition in 2014 received over 80 entries from Geelong school students.

Judging was done by a representative of the Geelong Art Gallery, Gail Frost, who also presented the winners’ prizes on Sunday before a big crowd of parents and festival attendees.  The standard was extremely high and is a tribute to the very talented art teachers in Geelong.

It’s on again in 2016 with the theme “The Cultures….. The boats” in recognition of the many countries with rich maritime traditions.

The competition is open to all primary and junior secondary students.  In 2016 there is a new category for Class bunting.    The popular “People’s Choice” award will be presented again.

For more information please contact the co-ordinator WBF2016@yahoo.com.au.  Entries cannot be received until 26 February 2016.
