SA Youth Tri Series Round 2 Wrap Up

by Australian Sailing - Emma Short

The second round of the Youth Tri Series interclub event was held at Brighton & Seacliff Yacht Club on 4-5 November.

With 104 boats, 128 sailors, from 8 clubs, racing in up to 8 races over 2 days, this was our biggest SA Youth event ever. This round we ran a green fleet for Optimists, O’Pen Bics and club (non-spinnaker) 420s, which proved very successful. The green fleet operates under World Sailing Introductory Racing Rules, and is a great way to introduce beginner racers to a larger event. Thanks to Brett Yardley and Martin Ebourne for acting as green fleet coaches.

This event was also used as pre-nationals training for our SA State 420, Laser and Optimist Squads. We wish good luck to all the sailors heading to nationals in QLD and WA and to the 420 Worlds in Fremantle.

Thanks to PRO Tracy Heritage, and Open course RO Marcus Cooper who came from HSC for the weekend.
Thanks to all the volunteers from BSYC, Adelaide Sailing Club, Christies Sailing Club, Goolwa Aquatic Club, Henley Sailing Club and Largs Bay Sailing Club who made the event possible.
