Australian sailors have acquitted themselves well at the European Laser 4.7 Championships, which concluded in Patras, Greece, last weekend.
Despite contending with varying conditions throughout the regatta, the half-dozen strong contingent competed strongly, including a podium placing for youngster Brooke Wilson, who finished third in the Girls U16 category.
Sylvie Stannage, the Laser 4.7 national youth champion, came 20th in the 104-boat Open fleet, while Boston Cortis sailed to 32nd in the 200-boat men’s Open fleet.
The Aussies will now start preparing for the World Laser 4.7 Championships in Gdynia in Poland in July.
In the Girls fleet of 104 boats the Australians had the following results:
11th (3rd U16) - Brooke Wilson (NSW)
20th - Sylvie Stannage
25th - Mina Ferguson
30th - Joanne Gavin
67th - Jade Gavin
In the Boys fleet Boston Cortis finished 32nd out of the 200 boats
