Heron Sailing

Often referred to as the “family sailing dinghy”

The Heron has stood the test of time and the class first sailed in Australia in late 1950s.

Why has it survived for decades? It has maintained its original design but has allowed some changes to improve its sailing performance.

It is still sailed in all states of Australia; very few dinghy classes can make this claim.

Why the claim of a “family boat”? It is one of the best dinghies for an adult and child to sail together.

It is easy to sail and when children are crewing they often feel more confident with an adult.

Also ideal for two adults and class rules allow for a larger jib with combined adult weights.

Next season we are planning to increase our DAC Heron fleet. Would you like to join us and go for a sail in a heron?
