Commodore's Cup 3
by Adam H Smith
Flat seas and 10-12 knot southerlies all addewd up to a fantastic day of racing. Sailing Officer Josh Franke set an 'inside-outside' course and as the wind made its way towards the south-east this left us with a super-fast reach outside the reef.
Thomas Dahmen rigged his 'historic' Alpha Omega for his first race and could not have scored a better crew than Lynn Dugay. They got a good start with the cats, but it was Glenn Douglas who quickly established a solid lead in conditions suiting the Vintage A-Class. The Hobie 16s were neck and neck up the first leg. Vincent and Will eventually got past Adam and Kai to win that little battle.
Meanwhile Colin Franke was powering his IMpulse around the course. In the end it was just 2 seconds that separated Col from today's winner Glenn Douglas.
