2017 Montalto Women on Water Regatta

by Peta Pietromonaco

Westernport Yacht Club is looking forward to hosting the 4th Montalto Women on Water (WoW) Coaching Regatta on November 11 and 12.

It is the largest all female coaching, mentoring and sailing regatta in Australia for females of all abilities.

The ethos of the regatta is further development of women and girls in the sport, both for the sailor and members of the race-management team. The objective of the Montalto WoW Regatta is to showcase females of all ages.  The age range in past events has been 7 through to 77 years and displays that sailing is truly an inter-generational sport.

This year we will be acknowledging many Olympians and elite sailors who will be sharing their enthusiasm and commitment to sailing.

This regatta provides women and girls, of all skill-levels, an on and off-water coaching and mentoring interaction with outstanding female role models in the sport.  At the past three events it has been fantastic to see friendships evolve amongst female sailors regardless of their age or ability. The camaraderie between the sailors has been outstanding.

This event is also a great opportunity to be mentored by our outstanding race-management team. If this is an opportunity you will like to pursue, please contact Peta Pietromonaco.

It is now the fourth year this regatta is proudly being supported by Yachting Victoria and Australian Sailing, and this year we welcome the Victorian State Government’s financial support.

The invited classes this year will be

-        Optimists

-        Minnows

-        Open Bics

-        Sabres

-        Pacers

-        Impulses

-        Hobie 14

-        Windsurfers.

Entries will open on 1st October 2017

We would like to thank the following sponsors for their continued support for this special regatta.

Montalto, Complete Rubber Pty Ltd, Bendigo Bank Balnarring & District Branch and Ronstan.

Also grants from the Victorian State Government and Mornington Peninsula Shire Council.

Please keep an eye on the Facebook page for updates.

That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
