UQFC are on the hunt for a new PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland Women’s coach to spearhead their pursuit of an “elite environment” in 2016.

Wayne Gibbon, who led the team to fourth place last season, has stepped away from the post due to the demands of taking on the club's presidency.

The St Lucia side is now searching for a new mentor to lead the team, with Technical Director Craig Pilon identifying the position as supported by a stable base.

“We’ve certainly got the numbers and the teams and the pathways all in place,” Pilon said.

“It’s just finding that right person to take it further and take it where we want to be, which is a little bit more of an elite environment for the players coming through. That’s the next step for us.”

UQFC will be hoping the new coach can help inspire a push for silverware next season after being knocked out of the Finals Series at the first hurdle in 2015.

Alongside a to-be-appointed assistant, Pilon looked for candidates to fit closely to club ethos.

“From a coach perspective we’re really looking for someone to follow our values and set our standards,” he said.

“We’ve got a mission statement and values in place that the coach will be expected to follow and really drive forward.

“Then (they will have) obviously the freedom to bring in their own ideas such as recovery, psychology, strength and conditioning.

“Any kind of things they can add to the program, we will obviously look to utilise their strengths from that perspective.”

Full details regarding both the Head Coach and Assistant Coach positions are available at the club’s website – uqfc.com.au.
