UQFC Secure Finals Spot

University of Queensland FC have secured fourth-place and a berth in the finals after defeating South West Queensland Thunder 4-1 at Lions Stadium.

UQ were regarding the threat of Eastern Suburbs taking points away from Peninsula Power and stealing fourth-place, but Lana Harch kept her cool from long-range and opened the scoring early in front of her home crowd.

UQ never lost the lead and are now carrying momentum into the finals after also defeating Sunshine Coast FC last week.

Thunder have finished the season in sixth-place on 21 points, while UQ will play against top of the table Peninsula Power next week in the semi-finals.

13’ – GOAL FOR UQFC – Georgia Chapman links up with Lana Harch, who tries her luck from long-range and comes up with the goods.

29– GOAL FOR UQFC -  Mikaela Disavia keeps the ball alive and cuts it back to the top of the box. The pass finds Elizabeth Shiavo, who takes an excellent first touch and hits the back of the net with her second.

44– GOAL FOR THUNDER - Great individual brilliance from Melanie Lyod pulls a goal back.

61’ – CHANCE FOR UQFC - Teagan Lynch places a great ball into the area to find the head of Disavia. Disavia’s header finds the safe hands of Sarah Bradbury.

66’ – GOAL FOR UQFC – UQFC’s midfield finds Harch who slots home her second goal.

80’ – CHANCE FOR THUNDER - Shot from Thunder beats the keeper but not the crossbar.

84’ – GOAL FOR UQFC - Kate Morton pounces on a loose ball and slots home for a goal.
